Amazon Introduces Return Reason Controls for FBA Partial Refunds

Amazon has updated its FBA Partial Refunds program, allowing sellers to choose which customer return reasons qualify for partial refunds. The update is available to FBA sellers in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Canada.

The program allows eligible customers to keep products in exchange for a partial refund, helping sellers reduce return shipping and processing costs.

What’s Changing?

  1. Set Partial Refunds for All ASINs

Sellers can configure different partial refund percentages based on customer return reasons across their entire catalog, with up to three configurations.

  1. Customize Refunds for Selected ASINs

Sellers can upload an Excel file specifying eligible ASINs, return reasons, and refund percentages. Products or reasons not included will follow the standard return process.

  1. Existing Enrollment Remains Active

Currently enrolled sellers will continue offering partial refunds for all eligible return reasons unless they update their settings.

  1. Customer Eligibility Checks Continue

Amazon will review customer profiles and purchase histories to determine eligibility and prevent abuse. Ineligible requests will follow the standard return process.

What Sellers Should Do

FBA sellers should review their return data, identify products with high return costs, and adjust partial refund settings based on profitability and return reasons.

Sellers can manage their preferences through the FBA Partial Refunds settings page.
