Amazon Announces New Product Title Limits Starting July 27, 2026
Amazon has announced an update to its listing policy regarding product title requirements that will affect sellers across nearly all categories.
Beginning July 27, 2026, product titles for all categories except media must be 75 characters or less (including spaces). The change is designed to improve the mobile shopping experience by ensuring titles display fully on customer devices and align with title lengths commonly used across other e-commerce platforms.
What’s Changing?
- Product titles must be limited to 75 characters.
- Sellers can use the new Item Highlights section to add up to 125 additional characters of searchable product information.
- Item Highlights can include key details such as materials, features, benefits, and recommended use cases.
AI-Powered Recommendations Available
Amazon is providing AI-generated recommendations to help sellers optimize listings. These suggestions automatically comply with the new title and Item Highlights limits.
To access recommendations:
- Go to Manage All Inventory.
- Select Edit for a listing.
- Click View Enhancements to review AI-generated title and Item Highlights suggestions.
What Happens If You Don’t Update?
After July 27, Amazon will gradually replace titles exceeding 75 characters with AI-generated recommendations. Listings will remain active during the transition, and sellers can edit titles and Item Highlights at any time.
For brand-registered products, brand owners will receive 14 days to review, modify, or approve AI-generated changes through Review Listing Changes before implementation.
What Sellers Should Do Now
- Audit listings with titles longer than 75 characters.
- Move secondary keywords, features, and specifications into Item Highlights.
- Review Amazon’s AI-generated recommendations and make manual adjustments where necessary.
- Prioritize high-traffic listings to maintain control over messaging and keyword placement.
This update represents one of Amazon’s most significant product title changes in recent years and signals a stronger focus on mobile-first shopping experiences and AI-assisted catalog optimization.
